News from K1/Hummingbirds: Monday 29th October to Friday 16th November 2012

We have begun our second unit of inquiry, Dress Up Time!  The central idea is:  ‘Clothes can reflect who we are, where we live and what we do.  We have been exploring Question1: What clothes do people from different cultures wear?  We have been exploring other culture’s clothing. We have also been talking about the clothes we are wearing each day and about the different fabrics they are made of.  We have had fun dressing our body cut outs in smart and pretty Zclothes.

Thank you to parents for supporting the children in dressing-up for Halloween day.  They all looked great and we had a fun day making pumpkins, mixing witch’s brew and getting a super treat bag to take home.

A reminder that Show and Tell  is a very important part of the learning process.  Please make sure your child brings a piece of clothing, a picture of clothing or a picture of themselves in clothing for weather or an activity.

K1 /Hummingbirds’s Library day is Fridays.  You must return the library book to get another one.

Thanksgiving day is Thursday 22nd November when we give thanks for all the things we have.  The children will enjoy a traditional lunch.
